MILLIONS of households with disabilities are set to receive a cost of living payment worth £150 within weeks – we reveal how you qualify.

The tax-free cash will be paid directly into bank accounts for the majority of eligible people between June 20 and July 4.

Millions of households will receive a £150 cost of living payment within weeks

In total, six million people will see the £150 payment land in their accounts.

Mel Stride, secretary of state for work and pensions, said the payment will help “protect those who need our support the most”.

But you have to be entitled to one of seven benefits to qualify for the £150 boost. The full list is:

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Scottish Disability Benefits (Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement

A small number of people will receive the money after July 4.

This applies if you were awaiting confirmation of your eligibility for the above qualifying benefits on April 1.

In any case, the £150 payment will be paid automatically – you don’t have to apply.

The code to spot in your bank statement will be your National Insurance number followed by “DWP COL”.

As an example, it might look like JT 83 42 97B DWP COL.

What other help is there?

The £150 payment comes as part of a bumper package of support announced by the Government worth up to £1,350 in total.

There are three payments in total and you could be eligible for all of them.

There’s one worth £900 which has been split into three instalments of £301, £300 and £299.

Over eight million people are eligible for the help in total and should have received the first instalment.

The second and third instalments are due to be paid this autumn and in spring 2024.

You qualify for the payments if you receive the following benefits:

  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit

Meanwhile, the remaining payment is worth £150-£300 and will be made to millions of pensioners from November.

You will receive the payment if you qualify for this year’s Winter Fuel Payment, which you will get if you were born before September 25, 1957.

The money is essentially a top up to the Winter Fuel Payment which is designed to cover the costs of heating over the colder months.

You will be sent a letter from the Government in October or November if you are eligible for the £150-£300 top up.
