Extra Cash Boost for Iceland Shoppers

Iceland supermarket is bringing back its festive Christmas savings scheme, and this year it comes with a special bonus. Customers who have Iceland's bonus card can receive an extra £15 for free. In addition to the regular £1 for every £20 topped up, customers who load £100 onto their bonus card by November 3 will qualify for the cash bonus. The £15 bonus will be added by November 24, just in time for Christmas shopping.

Where Can You Spend the Cash?

The bonus cash can be spent in-store, online, and via the app at Iceland and The Food Warehouse until December 23. The bonus card is also valid at The Food Warehouse, which is a part of Iceland. With this extra bonus, customers who add £100 to their card before November 3 can end up being £20 better off in total – at no cost.

How Does the Iceland Bonus Card Work?

Iceland's bonus card rewards users for saving money and offers exclusive discounts. For every amount of money loaded onto the card, cardholders receive £1 back for every £20. They can also win prizes and receive a birthday gift. The bonus scheme is available both digitally through the app and physically at stores. Over 1 million people have downloaded the digital Bonus Card app. Similar to other supermarket loyalty schemes (e.g. Tesco Clubcard), the Iceland Bonus Card allows users to purchase products at a lower price. However, note that the money on the card cannot be withdrawn and can only be spent at Iceland. It is also not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

Save and Earn Interest

Experts recommend putting the money saved on the bonus card in a high-interest savings account and adding it to the card at the last minute to maximize the benefits. This way, customers can protect their cash and earn interest on top. Consumer expert Andy Webb suggests that using the supermarket bonus in combination with a savings account is a double win.

More Christmas Saving Schemes

Iceland is not the only supermarket offering Christmas saving schemes. Morrisons has a More loyalty club that rewards customers who buy stamps in-store, while Asda offers a Christmas Savings Card that can be ordered online or picked up in-store. Sainsbury's has a Christmas Club card that allows shoppers to earn up to £25, and Tesco's Clubcard allows customers to turn points into vouchers and earn up to £12. Co-op customers can save all year round by filling up a booklet with stamps, and when the full book is spent in December, shoppers receive £2 cashback.
