Deadline Approaching

Thousands of Brits have just a few weeks left to seize the opportunity to claim up to £500 in free cash before the scheme closes. The multimillion-pound scheme, launched to assist families grappling with the cost-of-living crisis, is nearing its end.

Household Support Fund Details

The Household Support Fund, valued at £842 million by the Department for Work and Pensions, is where the free cash comes from. The amount you can receive and the form it takes (cash transfer or vouchers) depend on your location, with local councils tasked with distributing the funds based on individual financial circumstances and benefit receipts.

Application Deadline and Assistance

Residents in Lancashire's South Ribble borough have until mid-March to apply for support, which can cover a range of essentials such as energy, water, internet bills, heating, lighting, everyday items like soap, boiler repairs, and transport costs. Those eligible for the maximum UK Government Cost of Living Payments may receive £300, while others could get £500.

Extended Support

The scheme, initially launched in October 2021 to aid with winter expenses during the cost-of-living crisis, has seen several extensions. The most recent extension stretches the support program through March 31, 2024, offering various forms of assistance depending on the council and individual circumstances.

How to Apply

If you're in need of financial support, check with your local council to explore what assistance is available and the eligibility criteria. Remember, existing benefit payments will not be impacted by applying for the Household Support Fund, and you don't have to currently receive benefits to qualify for the scheme's aid.
