A man's unexpected purchase

A lucky man who won a £6.7 million lottery jackpot revealed that his first purchase was a modest Ford Galaxy. Dean Hardman, a pub landlord from Heywood, Greater Manchester, chose the winning numbers in November 2006 and decided to splurge on a budget-friendly vehicle.

A generous winner

In the years since his win, Hardman has embraced a more lavish lifestyle and has been generous with his winnings. He bought a race horse named Stanley Rigby in honor of his grandad and invested in his beloved Bury FC to support the team. Hardman also made sure to take care of his step-children by providing them with new homes.

A philanthropic couple

Hardman and his wife Stella continue to run their pub, The Crown Inn, now known as The Lucky Crown Inn. Despite their newfound wealth, they insist that the money hasn't changed them. They have donated thousands of pounds to charity, sponsored local up-and-coming athletes, and regularly volunteer their time.

A happy life

Hardman expressed his contentment with his life after the lottery win. He stated that he enjoys the freedom to do what he wants, when he wants, and indulges in his love for race horses. He also emphasized his ability to help out his close family when they need it, highlighting the happiness it brings him.

Dream cars and giving back

This story comes after another lottery winner, Frances Connolly, shared her own humble desires. Despite winning a staggering £114,969,775.70, Connolly expressed her dream of owning a comfortable bungalow and a second-hand Jaguar. She settled for a 2017 model after finding out that the car she originally wanted was no longer in production. Connolly and her husband, Patrick, also generously shared over half of their winnings with family, friends, and charities.
