Currys attracts major bidders

Shares of high street electricals retailer Currys soared by 38 per cent to 65p as two major bidders, US firm Elliott Advisors and China online retailer JD.com, compete for a takeover bid.

Currys rejected Elliott's 62p-a-share offer last Friday, stating it undervalued the company, and now faces a bidding war as JD.com enters the fray. With shares trading higher than the initial offer, the deadline for a new bid is set for March 16.
