SHOPPING in TK Maxx can be a daunting experience – but it helps if you know what items to go for.

The discounter is known for stocking all kinds of designer and big brand lines.

Lisa Talbot has revealed the items to always buy at TK Maxx, and the ones to avoid

But you might have been to your local branch recently, faced with rows and rows of clothes, shoes and homeware and not known where to start.

Luckily, shopping expert and award-winning personal stylist Lisa Talbot does.

She shared three items you should always pick up at your nearest TK Maxx and the two to avoid.

Shoes

It might not be your first port of call, but you can pick up some steals in the footwear section.

In most cases, you should be able to choose from a variety of sizes and choices too.

Lisa said: “You always get about a £30 to £40 reduction from the original selling price.

“I recently picked up a pair of Moschino sliders for £25, which normally retail at £50 to £55.

“It’s worth looking out for Nike trainers as well.”

Accessories

Keep an eye out for accessory items, in particular handbags and sunglasses.

You’ll find brands such as Fossil, Jimmy Choo and Ray Ban in stock.

Not only that, but TK Maxx groups its handbag section by colour, which will save you time and hassle riffling through the shelves to find what you’re looking for.

You can pick up a Mulberry Bayswater Tote bag for £999 – not the cheapest, but you’re saving £275 compared to buying from a full price retailer.

Lisa said: “If you’re a lady who loves accessories such as handbags and sunglasses you’ll find a good selection and at fab prices.

“You can get Marc Jacobs sunglasses from £10.”

Homeware

Lisa said if you’re on the lookout for higher quality homeware produce but don’t want to burst the bank, TK Maxx is a great shout.

“I love the home section,” she said. “There are beautiful items to dress your home at affordable prices.

“You’ll get great cushions and bedding there.

“I picked a double Egyptian cotton bedding set up for £25 but at John Lewis that’s going to be about £75.”

You can also pick up Le Creuset kitchenware at knockdown prices.

One of the high-end brand’s stoneware utensil jar goes for £12.99 down from £30 if you were to buy directly.

There’s even a selection of discounted garden furniture available.

Toiletries

Lisa advised avoiding buying toiletries as you’re not likely to get a bargain.

She said you find sets in the retailer that will be the same price, if not more expensive compared to Boots or John Lewis.

“For me that’s not cost effective. You’re not getting a bargain, you’re getting the same price.”

Make-up

For the same reason, it’s worth avoiding make up as well, which can be more expensive compared to other retailers.

Not only that, but sometimes the condition you find items in can be sub-par.

Lisa said: “It might be better to buy from TikTok shop or other retailers for individual items.

“TK Maxx do more gift pack sets. It’s better to go elsewhere if you just want single items.”
