Free Pizza Slice and Hot Drink from Greggs

Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert (MSE) has revealed a secret way to get a free meal at Greggs, the UK's favourite bakery chain. In his latest newsletter, Martin Lewis shares a tip from his sidekick Sarah Monro that fast-food chains often offer discounts and freebies to customers through apps and membership clubs. Greggs is currently offering a free pizza slice and hot drink if you sign up to its app before Monday October 16.

Four Other Secret Ways to Save Money at Greggs

Grab and Go

By opting to take your Greggs order away, you could save some money. There is a dual pricing system in some stores, with cheaper prices for takeaway items. This is due to a VAT charge on eat-in products. By taking your sausage roll away and finding a park bench nearby, you could save 10p-20p.

Waste Not

Ever wondered what happens to leftover treats at the end of the day? Greggs offers these items at rock bottom prices through the "Too Good To Go" app. For around £2.59, shoppers can buy "magic bags" of discounted food that Greggs, and other shops and cafes, haven't been able to sell. The app lets shoppers get a surprise haul of treats, with some customers finding £14 worth of goodies for just £2.

Find a Freebie

Greggs occasionally gives out freebies and limited time rewards to customers. This can include new products that need to be tasted. There may also be a "hack" to getting freebies in store at any time. One ex-employee revealed that staff can offer a free item if a customer is genuinely disappointed with the food. The offer is given at the staff's discretion and typically applies if the store doesn't have any fresh pastries available or if a hot product turns out to be cold.

Shop Around

Iceland sells Greggs products that can be heated at home. While they may not taste exactly the same, purchasing your favourite dishes from your local supermarket can save you money. For example, a box of eight sausage rolls at Iceland costs £3.75, which is just 47p per roll. Buying the same amount of sausage rolls from a Greggs store would cost you £3.93 more. Iceland also offers other Greggs favourites such as chicken bakes and cookies.

With these money-saving tips, you can enjoy some of Greggs' delicious treats without breaking the bank.
