Several discount retailers, including B&M Bargains, The Range, Poundland, and Home Bargains, have expressed interest in acquiring the struggling retail chain Wilko, according to sources. The chain recently entered administration, prompting potential buyers to submit indicative offers for consideration. Administrators at PWC have set a deadline for tomorrow to receive these initial offers, with a shortlist of second-round bids expected by Friday. Previous attempts to rescue Wilko failed, but the insolvency process allows buyers to select specific assets and negotiate the best offer for creditors.

Interest Mixed, with Some Retailers Offering for Majority of Stores

Early indications of interest in Wilko show a mixed picture, with some retailers making offers for as many as 300 stores, which could potentially save a significant number of jobs. Most offers, however, are for only 40 to 50 stores. While one bidder has expressed a desire to keep the Wilko name, the deal is not guaranteed.

Major Retailers Decline to Comment on Wilko Links

Representatives for The Range and Poundland declined to comment on any potential links to Wilko, while Home Bargains did not respond to requests for comment. Next, on the other hand, stated that it is not interested in acquiring Wilko, despite recently acquiring other struggling high street retailers.
