Customers now have more options for sending packages

The Post Office has announced a new partnership with parcel delivery companies DPD and Evri, allowing customers to send packages using these carriers in addition to Royal Mail. This marks the first time in the Post Office's 360-year history that customers will have a choice of parcel carriers. The new service will begin in selected branches in time for the peak Christmas delivery season.

Post Office aims to become a one-stop hub for customers

The Post Office sees this partnership as part of its continued diversification to become a one-stop hub for customers. By offering multiple delivery carriers under one roof, the Post Office aims to provide greater choice and convenience for customers. CEO Nick Read stated that this move is a step towards building a Post Office fit for the future.

DPD and Evri to be launch partners for new service

Major parcel carriers DPD and Evri will be the launch partners for the new buy-in-branch service. This service will allow customers to walk up to a Post Office counter and choose to send their parcels with DPD or Evri, in addition to existing services. The Post Office plans to roll out this service across branches in the coming months.

Royal Mail introduces new fees ahead of Christmas

Royal Mail has recently made changes to its fees, including a 2p green surcharge for business account customers and an additional peak surcharge for letters and parcels. These changes will be in effect from November 20 to January 7, the peak time for Christmas deliveries.

Standard delivery charges and options

The Post Office offers first class and second class delivery options for parcels, with rates starting at £4.19 and £3.49 respectively. Compensation of up to £20 is included in case of loss or damage. Evri's standard rates for parcels start at £2.88, while DPD's rates start at £8.29. Both options also include compensation of up to £20. Prices may vary depending on the weight, size, and speed of delivery.
