LOOKING for ways to stay warm for less? You might find the answer in your kitchen.

Warming toys, bottles and packs are cheaper than boiling a kettle or running the heating.

They are also comforting and make great presents . . .

CHILD’S PLAY: Choose from many cute microwavable toys for kids — such as the Unicorn Hottie from Argos, down from £10 to £7.50.

Filled with wheat or flaxseed, the soft toys are weighty and give sensory comfort.

COSY TOES: To keep your feet toasty, you can now get slippers that can be heated up.

Just check out Lloydspharmacy.com — where Warmies pairs are currently half-price, down from £25 to £12.50.

HOT BOTS: Microwavable bottles are the same shape as traditional hot-water bottles but are heated in the microwave instead.

Robert Dyas has slashed the price of a Warmies microwavable bottles from £19.99 to £14.99.

After only about 90 seconds in a microwave, they will be ready to snuggle up to.

PAIN RELIEF: A microwave pad can ease aches and pains.

The Kai Geometric pink and yellow cotton neck-wrap from Oliver Bonas, down from £32.50 to £12, could make a thoughtful gift for someone you reckon is in need or relief.

PACK IT IN: For a great-value, warming all-rounder, opt for a simple heat pack.

Lloyds Pharmacy has a microwavable herbal one which is currently reduced from £10 to £4, while a velour Hot-Pak from Robert Dyas is discounted from £9.99 to £5.

SOOTHE SAFELY: With no need for boiling lots of water, microwavable warmers can be safer than traditional hot-water bottles.

But you do need to use them carefully.

Make sure that they come with clear instructions for heating.

Always follow the directions and never heat for too long or at too high a temperature.

Stay close to the microwave while heating and do not use your warmer when at all damaged.
