The Home Secretary has announced a new crackdown on organised crime as it was revealed that 59,000 gangsters are wreaking havoc across the UK and costing the nation billions each year.

New Strategy to Tackle Organised Crime

Under the new strategy, every police force in England and Wales will implement a policing tactic called "Clear, Hold, Build" by next spring. This three-step approach involves crushing criminal networks, maintaining safety, and empowering communities to address the root causes of crime.

The Criminal Justice Bill will introduce new powers to ban items used by criminal gangs, including 3D printed firearms components.

The Government will also provide an additional £5 million to support UK police in their response to organised immigration crime.

"Vital Part of Our Mission"

Home Secretary James Cleverly emphasized the importance of dismantling organised crime gangs, stating, "Serious and organised crime touches every corner of our country. It affects everyone, even if we are not aware of it. These gangs only deal in human misery."

He added, "Taking down these organised crime gangs is a vital part of our mission."

The Scale of Organised Crime

According to the National Crime Agency, there are at least 59,000 people involved in serious and organised crime in the UK, costing the country at least £47 billion annually.
