Labour's Climate Spending Plan Criticized

Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho has warned that Labour will have to increase taxes to fill the "green black hole" in its 2030 eco targets. She accused Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer of taking families and the country for fools with his new climate spending plan. Coutinho's comments came in response to Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves' commitment to achieving clean power by 2030, despite abandoning Labour's £28 billion annual investment promise. Starmer now pledges to spend an extra £23.7 billion over five years instead.

"Labour Doesn't Have a Plan," Says Coutinho

Coutinho criticized Labour's claim that they have the same policies as before but at a lower cost. She argued that this shows Labour doesn't have a plan and that it will ultimately result in higher taxes for hardworking people. Tory party chairman Richard Holden echoed this sentiment, accusing Labour of creating a "green black hole" in their eco scheme.

Labour Adviser Criticizes U-Turn

Labour adviser Juergen Maier broke ranks and publicly criticized the U-turn on Labour's climate spending plan. He stated that it is not good for climate change or the growth of the economy. However, former Labour leader Ed Miliband, who is now a green guru for the party, defended the decision and stated that he did not consider resigning. He emphasized that what matters is that Britain moves the dial on climate change.
