LABOUR are under mounting pressure to cut ties with an aspiring MP revealed to be an eco-zealot.

HOAR revealed Alistair Strathern, 33, and his partner Megan Corton-Scott, who works for Greenpeace, protested dressed as zombies against restrictions on disruptive eco-mobs like Just Stop Oil in November last year.

Mr Strathern, who works for the Bank of England, has been selected to fight Mid-Bedfordshire seat when it is vacated by Tory MP Nadine Dorries.

Last night Tory party boss Greg Hands wrote to Sir Keir Starmer, demanding his party “formally confirm that people with links to disruptive eco-zealot groups will not be permitted to stand for election as Labour candidates.”

His letter read: “In light of Greenpeace’s shameful attack on the Prime Minister’s home last week which you failed to condemn for over seven hours and the frequent attacks from Just Stop Oil which was founded by Labour donor Dale Vince, I am now calling on you to condemn these groups unequivocally.”

Mr Hands added: “involvement in eco-zealot protests fundamentally undermines an individual’s ability to stand up for the British people against these groups.

“People involved in climate extremism cannot effectively serve their constituents as a legislator while simultaneously working with eco-extremists that are staging disruptive and illegal protests across the UK.”

And he demanded Sir Keir rule that “no prospective Labour candidate will be permitted to stand for public office if they are involved in these eco-zealot activities.”

Home Secretary Suella Braverman responded to our story, warning: “A vote for Labour is literally a vote for the eco-zealots.”

Labour dismissed the criticism and repeated their condemnation of targeting politicians’ homes.
