KATE Garraway has opened up about her “secret meeting” with Prince William and Kate Middleton yesterday, revealing that she met with the royals for a “very moving” Pride of Britain project.
The 53-year-old star was forced to spill the beans after her Good Morning Britain co-host Ranvir Singh questioned why Kate was spotted “loitering” behind the couple during a photo call.
A photo of the moment then appeared on screen, with Kate visibly waiting close to Kate and Wills in a floral dress.
Explaining what was going on, Kate shared: “So this was yesterday, it was a great honour for me, I got to spend a bit of time with them because they were giving their time…”
Ranvir then interrupted: “They look like they are ignoring you there!”
Kate laughed as she joked: “Yeah they looked like they are blanking me, I actually just sort of followed them for the day!”
She then continued: “No, they were taking part in something for the Pride of Britain Awards on ITV on November 1.
“It’s really moving and beautiful.”
Detailing that this year’s ceremony will be much smaller than previous years, Kate added: “But it’s very, very moving. And they [Kate and William] are involved in that.”
After clarifying that she wasn’t one of the heroes to be receiving an award, Kate admitted that she couldn’t resist asking Kate about her famous hair.
She laughed: “It’s fabulously glossy in person I can report!”
Before meeting with the TV presenter yesterday, Prince William was caught eyeing up a KFC as he and Kate visited her coronavirus lockdown picture project at London Waterloo train station.
The couple travelled to Waterloo in the morning to view one of the public exhibition sites for the Hold Still campaign.
The Duchess of Cambridge has already unveiled 100 photos from her project documenting life under Covid.
Dressed in an ankle length red Alexander McQueen coat and flanked by William, the couple spent half an hour viewing half a dozen separate billboards – with Kate changing into a blue trouser suit for when she met her GMB namesake.
