Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were scheduled to begin at Lambrook on September 8, and Kate believed it was important for them to have at least one parent at home.

The biography also sheds light on the Queen's preferences when it came to visitors while she was ill. Like the late Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Elizabeth did not like a queue of family members at her bedside. This may have influenced Kate's decision to stay away.
