Regal Ride: Range Rover Once Owned by Queen Elizabeth II Fetches Eye-Watering Price

A Range Rover previously owned by Queen Elizabeth II has recently been sold at auction for a staggering new price. The classic vehicle, which boasts royal heritage, saw its value increase by an impressive 302% in just four months.

From Royal Steed to Record-Breaker

This particular Range Rover, a third-generation model built by Land Rover, is 19 years old and has covered 109,000 miles. Its connection to the Queen played a significant role in driving up its price. Without its prestigious former owner, experts estimate that a 2004 Range Rover would typically sell for no more than £6,000.

Iconic Auction Success

The luxury SUV was offered at the Iconic Auctioneers NEC Classic Motor Show in Birmingham and fetched a winning bid of an astonishing £132,750. This exceeded the pre-sale estimate of up to £60,000 predicted by the auctioneers.

Royal Confirmation

Initially, the vehicle had only been sold for £30,000 as its previous owner could not verify its connection to the Queen. However, the current vendor conducted extensive research and found video footage of Queen Elizabeth II behind the wheel of the car, clearly showing the number plate. This confirmation solidified the car's royal association and resulted in a significant increase in its value.

Fit for a Monarch

The Range Rover features several unique and distinctive elements that were specially designed by the company's Special Vehicle Operations. These include a rear dog guard, blue lights on the grille, and interior handles to facilitate the Queen's entry into the vehicle. The car is finished in Epsom Green paint with a Sand Hide leather interior.

Well-Preserved and Prized

Despite its age and mileage, the vehicle is said to be in excellent condition. This recent sale highlights the enduring appeal and value of classic cars with notable provenance.

More Record-Breaking Auctions

This sale comes on the heels of another record-breaking auction where a 1962 Ferrari 330 LM 250 GTO, owned by a single individual for 38 years, sold for a record fee. With only 34 ever produced, this rare Ferrari is considered the "holy grail" of collector cars.

Hidden Features and Surprises

In other automotive news, drivers have recently discovered a hidden button in their cars that can enhance safety on the road. This button automatically locks the vehicle within seconds, providing added security. Additionally, motorists were surprised to find a hidden bonus feature on their dashboard that effectively defogs mirrors.
