Bethany Platt, the beloved Coronation Street character portrayed by Lucy Fallon, has returned to Weatherfield and rekindled her bond with Daniel Osbourne. However, it soon becomes clear that Bethany is keeping a massive secret from everyone around her.
Uncovering the Truth
Daniel starts to ask questions as he finds Bethany engrossed in writing an article in the café. When he inquires about it, she remains evasive. Later on, it becomes evident that Bethany's professional life in London as a trainee magazine editor may not be as stable as she wants it to be, as she faces disappointment from her publisher.
Financial Worries
Bethany's money concerns also come to light when she checks her bank balance and looks at her overdraft with concern. She covers up her financial struggles in front of her mother, Sarah Platt. Seeking work, Bethany meets with Suki from the Gazette, who advises her to try Chit-Chat Magazine. Will Bethany find the job she's looking for and resolve her money worries?
A Familiar Story for the Platts?
Bethany's financial struggles may not be unique within the Platt clan. Months before her return, the Street faced the haunting presence of serial killer Stephen Reid, who was revealed to be Audrey Roberts' son. Stephen's desperate attempts to avoid bankruptcy led him to commit heinous crimes. While Bethany may not spiral out of control like Stephen, could her woes become another issue for the Platts to overcome as a family?
