Davina, Streetmate host in 1998, said: ‘I would quite like to do Maturemate where I run around the streets’

She said: “I would quite like to do Maturemate where I run around the streets and find somebody 45-plus and set them up with someone.”

But before plotting her nostalgia trip, Davina is focusing on a more serious topic, telling the Spinning Plates podcast: “Next year, we are looking at doing a documentary on the Pill.

“There are so many different types, I don’t know what I’m talking about but I guess everybody will come on a journey to find out about it.”

She added: “Most women take the Pill willy nilly but in fact HRT is safer than the Pill on paper but everybody treats HRT like their nemesis but in fact we need to know more about the Pill.”

And its success has boosted Channel 5’s ratings, leading to record profits.

Boss Ben Frow says the drama – based on the books by vet Alf Wight, using the pen name James Herriot – hiked ratings for the fourth year in a row, pushing them up one per cent to an overall share of 4.5 per cent last year.

The most recent series of the show, starring Nicholas Ralph, was watched by 3.8million viewers, but it was not C5’s highest-rating drama.

That accolade goes to The Teacher, starring Sheridan Smith, with 4.3m viewers.

Sheridan really is the best in class.
