ITV defends their treatment of animals

ITV executives have fired back at Chris Packham, the renowned conservationist, after he penned an open letter to Ant and Dec, demanding an end to the use of animals and insects in the popular show, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! In the letter, Packham, 62, labeled the show as “grotesque” for its “continued exploitation of animals.”

ITV prioritizes welfare and safety

In response, ITV released a statement today asserting that the welfare and safety of the animals used in the show is always their primary concern. They emphasized that they have protocols in place that comply with all regional and national laws in Australia, where the show is filmed.

Strict environmental plan in place

The spokesperson for ITV further explained that they have a stringent environmental plan in place for the show. They also clarified that for any Bushtucker trial involving animals, qualified and experienced animal handlers are present on-site at all times.

Chris Packham’s previous criticism

This is not the first time that Packham has criticized I’m A Celebrity. He referred back to his previous attack on the show in 2019 in his recent open letter. In it, he challenged Dec, one of the show’s hosts, asking him to consider what his daughter would think about the use of animals in the series.

Wide-reaching impact of the letter

Chris Packham’s open letter has gained significant attention, with 1.5 million people having viewed it and 10,000 reposting it.
