A popular American fast-food chain is set to make a comeback in the UK after disappearing from the high street. Chick-fil-A, known for its delicious fried chicken, has confirmed plans to open new branches across the country. The first restaurant is expected to open its doors in early 2025, with up to five more locations to follow in the next two years. While the exact menu is yet to be announced, Chick-fil-A has promised to bring its famous Chicken Sandwich, fresh salads, and hand-breaded nuggets to British diners.

American Fast-Food Favorite Returns

Chick-fil-A, the beloved fast-food chain that first opened its doors in Atlanta in 1967, has since grown to have 2,800 restaurants across the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. And now, UK residents will be able to enjoy the iconic taste of their chicken delights. Anita Costello, regional director at Chick-fil-A, expressed excitement about the opportunity to bring new jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities to the UK. She also emphasized their commitment to serving communities and providing fresh, high-quality food with exceptional hospitality.

Controversy and Closure

Chick-fil-A previously opened its first UK store in Reading, England in 2019. However, the restaurant closed after its six-month lease expired in 2020. Controversy surrounding comments made by the company's former CEO opposing same-sex marriage contributed to the closure. Despite this setback, Chick-fil-A is now ready to make a triumphant return and bring its tasty offerings to British customers once again.

Joining the UK Dining Scene

Chick-fil-A is not the only international restaurant chain eyeing the UK market. Patisserie Valerie, a well-known bakery with nearly 200 stores and 3,000 employees in the UK, is gearing up to reopen two restaurants by October. The chain also plans to reinvest in more cafes across the country in the coming months. Discount retailer Costco is also expanding, with plans to open 14 new warehouses within the next two years. The White Company and Greggs are also joining in on the action, with plans to open new branches in the UK by November and 150 branches respectively in 2023.
