Everyone has their favorite brand of tea, but sticking to that brand could be costing you a small fortune. Swapping to a supermarket own-brand tea could save you money without sacrificing taste. We tried out different supermarket teas to see if the knock-off versions are just as good. Here are the results.

Tesco Original Teabags

Price: £1.25 for 80 teabags (1p per bag)

The smell of these Tesco teabags gave us high hopes, but unfortunately, the taste was weak and bitter with a thin consistency. If you're looking for a nice, comforting cuppa, this isn't the one for you.

Taste: 4/10 | Price: 6/10 | Overall: 10/20

M&S Luxury Gold Teabags

Price: £3.20 for 80 teabags (4p per bag)

These M&S teabags made a smooth and rich brew that impressed us. While the taste was great, the price is difficult to justify. It might be worth it for a special treat, but not for everyday use.

Taste: 9/10 | Price: 5/10 | Overall: 14/20

Lidl Knightsbridge Red Label Teabags

Price: £2.19 for 240 teabags (0.9p per bag)

Lidl's teabags were tasty and wholesome, making a great brew. This strong and cheap brew may have convinced us to ditch our reliable Tetley's. We believe even the toughest tea connoisseur would agree that Lidl's bargain brew is well worth the money.

Taste: 9/10 | Price: 10/10 | Overall: 19/20

Asda Gold Teabags

Price: £2 for 80 teabags (2p per bag)

These Asda teabags made a dull and plain cuppa. While the taste wasn't bad, it was just a bit non-descriptive and weak. The look of the tea was fine, but the taste just wasn't up to scratch.

Taste: 6/10 | Price: 6/10 | Overall: 12/20

Sainsbury's Red Label Teabags

Price: £2.30 for 160 teabags (1p per bag)

Sainsbury's teabags were packed full of flavor and made a nice, fresh cuppa. The tea flavor wasn't drowned out by the milk, and it left a lovely aftertaste.

Taste: 8/10 | Price: 7/10 | Overall: 15/20

Aldi Red Label Teabags

Price: £1.59 for 160 teabags (0.9p per bag)

Aldi's teabags made a lovely, dark brew, but the taste was a bit lacking and didn't leave a lasting impression. However, considering the price, they are great value. If you're willing to sacrifice a bit on taste, these tea bags are worth it.

Taste: 6/10 | Price: 9/10 | Overall: 15/20

Tetley Original

Price: £2.95 from Sainsbury's for 80 teabags (3p per bag)

Tetley is a leading brand and a go-to brew for many. While it's mild and easy to drink, it is quite pricey. You can find supermarket own-brand tea bags that are just as good and cheaper.

Taste: 8/10 | Price: 5/10 | Overall: 13/20

We also tested supermarkets' own milk chocolate, and a 36p bar was better than Cadbury. Plus, we tried the sell-out Prime sports drink from KSI and Logan Paul, but it turned out to be a bit of a flop.
