MCDONALD’S fans are not happy after the fast food giant removed a beloved breakfast item from its menu recently.

Potato waffles, which went down a treat, were removed from the McDonald’s menu in December ahead of the restaurant’s January shake-up.

The potato waffles are no longer on the menu

Fans were left devastated after realising the item had only been on the menu for two months.

They took to Twitter to share their disappointment.

One gutted customer wrote: “I just want McDonald’s mini potato waffles back.”

While another said: “McDonald’s taking the potato waffles off the breakfast menu has ruined my life.”

Another upset fan tweeted: “McDonald’s took away the mini waffle potato things from their breakfast menu no one talk to me.”

Potato waffles were a staple breakfast item since October, but were axed just before Christmas.

It comes as the fast food giant got rid of its Christmas items yesterday (January 3).

The items were only ever meant to stick around for a limited period as part of the McDonald’s Christmas menu.

The items include:

  • Big Tasty – £5.29 on its own or £6.89 as a meal
  • Big Tasty with bacon – £5.89 on its own or £7.49 as a meal
  • Cheese Melt Dippers – £2.29
  • Cheese Melt Dippers Sharebox – £5.99
  • Celebrations McFlurry – £1.79 for regular
  • Festive Pie – £1.29

But all is not lost as McDonalds has revealed its new January menu, including a double McPlant burger and spicy chicken wrap.

From today (January 4), the restaurant adding a new “big flavour” wrap, which will be called “the Spicy Sriracha Chicken One”.

Food lovers will pay £3.29 for just the wrap or for £6.49 as a meal, though prices can vary depending on location.

It’ll be made with either crispy chicken breast or grilled chicken and then spicy sriracha sauce, cucumber, slivered onions, and lettuce, in a soft toasted wrap.

It’s also revamping its menu by launching a Double McPlant burger to its menu – and it will be available in all restaurants from today too.

How do I find my nearest McDonald’s?

If you’re planning on taking a trip to McDonald’s, you’ll want to know where your nearest branch is.

The chain has a restaurant locator tool on its website you can use to find your nearest one – and check what time it opens.

Bear in mind that McDonald’s serves breakfast every day until 11am.

After that, the menu switches to the normal menu serving meals such as burgers, chicken nuggets and more.
