High Street Shop Loved by Parents

A popular high street shop with over 160 stores, loved by parents, has announced the closure of another location. The Entertainer, a major toy chain, will be shutting down one of its branches in a popular Bristol shopping centre.

Sad News for The Galleries Shopping Centre

The Entertainer toy store, located in The Galleries Shopping Centre in Bristol, is set to close. The shop has been a family favourite within the centre for several years. However, due to the planned redevelopment of The Galleries, the decision has been made to close the store.

Thanking Staff and Customers

Nick Hargreaves, Chief Operations Officer at The Entertainer, expressed his sadness about the closure, stating, "We would like to thank our staff for their incredible service through the years and of course our customers for their loyalty." The company is working closely with the store team to explore opportunities for them elsewhere in the business.

Other Stores Still Available

Despite the closure, The Entertainer still has three other stores near The Galleries for local shoppers to visit. These include Cabot Circus, Cribbs Causeway, and Keynsham. The company is eager to welcome new customers to these locations and also offers the option to purchase products via their website.

Struggles on the High Street

The closure of The Entertainer store in Bristol is just one example of the challenges faced by high street retailers in recent years. Factors such as rising costs of living, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the shift towards online shopping have all contributed to difficulties for brick-and-mortar stores.

Other Stores Facing Closure

Several other retailers have also had to close stores to cut costs. Argos, Boots, B&M, M&Co, Paperchase, Wilko, Homebase, and Poundstretcher are among the brands that have closed or are planning to close stores. Even food and pub chains like Wetherspoons and Frankie & Benny's have been affected.

New Shops Defying the Trend

Despite the challenges faced by many retailers, some chains are still opening new stores. Discount chains like Poundland and Greggs have plans to open multiple new locations in the near future.
