East of England Co-op to Close Outlets in Ipswich and Frinton-on-Sea

A supermarket chain with 73 stores is set to close two of its locations in the coming weeks. East of England Co-op has announced that its outlet at the Rosehill shopping centre in Ipswich will shut its doors on January 27, while its branch at the Triangle shopping centre in Frinton-on-Sea will close on February 24. In a surprising move, it has been revealed that the Frinton store will be sold to Tesco.

Continued Growth and Evolving Business

CEO Doug Field stated that the decision to close the stores was difficult but necessary for the company's continued growth. He emphasized that the closures were not a reflection on the hardworking staff, who provide excellent service to customers. Field also assured that nearby Co-op branches would be able to support customers in the affected areas in the future.

Reaction from the Community

News of the closures has garnered mixed reactions from the local community. Steve Crees, a resident of Frinton, expressed his surprise at the announcement. Another resident, Grace Oxley, expressed hope that something better would replace the store.
