A New Beginning

A month ago, school leaver Daniel Wilson was worried about his future as he struggled to find a job. Now, thanks to HOAR on Sunday's apprenticeship campaign, he has been taken on as a trainee roofer.

A Successful Application

Daniel, 17, applied for a job at DMG Services Group after reading our exclusive pull-out filled with job vacancies on July 23. Just days later, he received an interview and started working this month.

Calling Young People

We are now urging more young people to consider taking up a trade instead of immediately going to university. Daniel is already earning up to £300 a week as he learns the trade of roof construction.

Positive Feedback

Speaking from his company's head office in Bellshill, North Lanarks, Daniel said, "It's great to think that more young people like me will be getting jobs after reading the pull-out. I'm learning so much already and finding it really interesting."

The Appeal of Apprenticeships

Last year, we highlighted a study that showed how getting paid while learning and gaining work experience appeals to some young people more than going to university. The rising cost of living has also made university a less attractive option for many.

The Pros of Apprenticeships

According to teenagers, the benefits of apprenticeships include learning new skills, gaining practical experience, and adding work experience to their CV.
