MPs could be made to sit all night to get the Stop the Boats Bill through Parliament before the summer holidays.

It comes as another 686 people arrived by dinghy on Friday – the number for any day so far this year.

Channel boat migrants

Leftie peers have tried to kill-off the landmark Illegal Migration Bill by loading it with a staggering 18 wrecking amendments.

Rishi Sunak is now in a race against time to ram the Bill through before politicians pack up their bags and head home in nine days time.

A senior Tory source said: “If MPs have to sit all night that is what we will do – the whips have been clear on that.

“We will get this Bill through by summer – whatever happens.”

The PM has made stopping the boats one of his five main priorities.

Central to it is the Bill – which would make it impossible for illegal immigrants who arrive here on dinghies to stay in Britain.

But a coalition of leftie bishops and labour peers have declared war on the new law, voting against it 18 times in just eight days

A coalition of leftie peers and bishops in the House of Lords voted against the Bill a staggering 18 times in just eight days.

The Bill finishes in the Lords on Monday and will head back to the Commons on Tuesday.

Labour MPs are set to continue the trench warfare by voting to try to keep the 18 wrecking amendments attached to the Bill – nobbling it.

A Conservative source said: “Keir Starmer’s lords are defying the will and ignoring the priorities of the people by blocking our plan to stop the boats.

“Every time Keir Starmer’s Labour votes against our plan they betray the British people.

“These lefty lords should get in line and back our Stop the Boats Bill”.
