Downing Street has increased pressure on the BBC to refer to Hamas as terrorists, stating that there are no restrictions preventing them from doing so. This comes as a protest is expected over the broadcaster's coverage of Hamas' actions. No10 has confirmed that the term "terrorist" is legally accurate.

BBC Accused of Bias

Corporation chiefs have faced criticism for not classifying Hamas as terrorists, claiming that doing so would be biased. However, journalists at the BBC have previously used the term to describe 9/11 and the Bataclan attacks in Paris.

A spokesperson for Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister, said that there are no restrictions on the BBC using the term "terrorist" to describe Hamas. They also highlighted that Hamas' recent attack in Israel was the third deadliest terrorist attack globally since 1970.

FA Chiefs Criticized for Lack of Support

FA chiefs have been warned that they need to do more to pay respect to the victims of Hamas' attack on Israel. They faced criticism for not lighting up the Wembley arch for a recent game against Australia. Downing Street suggested that the FA should show more support as England prepares for their match against Italy.

When asked about lighting up Wembley in white and blue, a spokesperson for No10 stated that the FA has shown support in similar circumstances and that it is important for the UK to demonstrate solidarity with Israel following the horrors they have endured.

The Prime Minister's office believes that the FA has "fallen short" in their memorials and should be doing more to show support for the victims of Hamas' attack.
