Kiwi legend loses battle with aggressive form of cancer
New Zealand's beloved wood chopper champion, Jason Wynyard, has tragically passed away after a brief fight with stage four Burkitt Lymphoma. The 49-year-old icon was surrounded by his loved ones, including his wife Sharon, at the time of his death.
A legend in the sport
Wynyard was a true force to be reckoned with in the world of wood chopping. He clinched a remarkable nine senior world championships during his illustrious career at the top of the sport.
A royal recognition
Wynyard's extraordinary talents were not overlooked by Queen Elizabeth II herself. In 2017, he was honored in the Queen's New Year's Honours list and became a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM).
