Royal Connection

Prince William's team, Aston Villa, is testing out an innovative solution for food packaging at football stadiums. The club is trialling seaweed-based boxes provided by Notpla, a company that won £1million in Earthshot Prize funding last year.

Widespread Use

The seaweed cartons were already used at all European football finals last season, proving their viability for large-scale events. Notpla's co-CEO, Pierre Paslier, credits Prince William for helping make the deal happen at Villa Park.

A Game-Changing Solution

Paslier explains that the prince's position as President of the Football Association was instrumental in introducing the seaweed packaging to stadiums. He states, "It is very helpful that he is President of the Football Association because it turns out stadiums use a lot of this type of packaging. After getting introduced to football clubs and stadiums directly by the prince, we were able to build relationships with catering companies and now expand to up to tens of stadiums."

Earthshot Prize and Global Summit

Prince William, along with the 15 finalists, will travel to Singapore for the third Earthshot Prize on November 7. The Earthshot Prize aims to reward ideas that could help save the planet, with five winners receiving £1million each. Additionally, the prince will attend the United for Wildlife Global Summit during his five-day visit.
