Georgina Hale, Star of Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, Passes Away at 80

Georgina Hale, a beloved actress known for her roles on popular shows Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, has died at the age of 80. Her impressive career spanned 50 years in both television and theatre.

Although Hale passed away on January 4, news of her death has only recently been revealed.

In addition to her television work, Hale gained recognition for her outstanding performances in the films of Ken Russell.

Her role in Mahler (1974) earned her a Bafta film award for most promising newcomer.

Hale also received a nomination for the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award for her performance in the original London production of Steaming.

In 2010, The Guardian named her one of the ten great British character actors.

Hale made her film debut in the historical drama Eagle in a Cage (1971), starring as Betsy Balcombe alongside Kenneth Haigh as Napoléon Bonaparte.

She was previously married to actor John Forgeham, but the couple later divorced.
