Prince Harry flew to the UK this week to support his father, who recently received a surprising cancer diagnosis. While Meghan Markle stayed in California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are preparing to make a significant joint appearance in Canada next week.

A Royal Reunion

Harry made a 5,000-mile trip from Los Angeles to London on Tuesday to meet with King Charles for a brief 30-minute conversation. Despite the absence of Meghan and their children, the meeting raised hopes of a reconciliation between Harry and his father, particularly after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. The two have stayed in touch through phone calls but had not met privately until now.

One Year to Go Festivities

Meghan and Harry are expected to participate in a three-day event in Canada, close to their hearts. They will be spending Valentine's Day joining the One Year to Go festivities leading up to the 2025 Invictus Games. The Vancouver Whistler games, scheduled for February 8-16, 2025, will mark the first winter sporting event in Invictus history. Competitors from 25 nations will take part in various events, including alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, wheelchair curling, and swimming.

A Commitment to the Invictus Games

Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014 as a platform for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world. The games have been held in different locations, including London, Orlando, Toronto, Sydney, and the Netherlands. The 2025 Invictus Games will be hosted by British Columbia, Canada, and will feature up to 550 competitors. During their trip, Meghan and Harry will also have the opportunity to engage with the Invictus community, including team managers, coaches, and competitors.

Reconnecting with Family

Prince Harry's visit to the UK did not include a meeting with his brother, Prince William. The two have reportedly not spoken for over a year. Royal author Phil Dampier suggests that William's focus is on taking care of his wife, Kate Middleton, who is currently recovering from abdominal surgery, and fulfilling his royal duties in light of his father's health condition.

Overall, the upcoming joint appearance by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in Canada is expected to be a significant moment for the couple and their ongoing commitment to the Invictus Games.
